What is neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a non-invasive approach for teaching and re-training the brain to operate in a healthier, relaxed, and more effective fashion.
Is it painful or invasive?
Neurofeedback is not painful or invasive and is fully medication-free. We utilize specific equipment to read how your brain waves function. Then we teach your brain how to react and perform in healthier, more efficient forms.
Will I be able to return to work after a session?
Yes, you will be able to return to work comfortably. However, part of the neurofeedback process is placing the electrodes onto your scalp. We use a conductor solution resembling a soft putty. Some patients prefer to washout their hair when the process is complete.
Are you brainwashing me?
No, we are not brainwashing you, and we are not hypnotizing you. There is no medication involved and no physical entry into your head, body, or brain.
What is the downside?
We don’t really see a downside to neurofeedback. Any enhancement to your brain, thoughts, and behavior will only create a happier and healthier you.
How long will it take?
There is no set answer for treatment duration. Every person is different. Upon intake with your practitioner, the treatment plan will be discussed, including estimated sessions based on your diagnosis and personal goals.
How many sessions are needed?
As discussed, change happens differently in each patient. We monitor and review your progress and look for signs of change. These can include:
- ability to pay attention
- better mood
- improvements to sleep duration
- lessening of headaches and migraines
Together we will track these changes and periodically review your initial goals and treatment status.
Can neurofeedback replace conventional therapy?
Neurofeedback can work in conjunction with your current therapy professional. We have patients that utilize both treatment methods, and some just use neurofeedback. Combining both approaches is a unique way to manage your healing process.
Can neurofeedback be used to enhance athletic performance?
Neurofeedback can often enhance athletic performance. Concentration, focus, and emotional control are vital to achieving optimal performance in all fields. Neurofeedback may also apply to executives, salespeople, and high-stress position employees. These individuals are taking advantage of neurofeedback technologies to learn how to re-train their brains to access their minds’ full potential to reach their peak. Enhancements include stress reduction and increased ability to focus.
Think of neurofeedback as a training session for the brain. Training the brain to function at its best is no different than training your body for better performance.
